Family Support & Child Protection

Single Point of Access for Behavioral Health  Services (SPOA)

Every child who leaves the family home because it is not safe has already encountered one of the worst challenges to emotional health. SPOA conducts a thorough assessment of each child and family home life in order to identify what mental health or substance abuse services may be needed. Recommendations are entered in the child's permanency plan - a contract with the family that expresses what must be achieved before the child can leave child protection services. Following up on the recommendations is also an important function of SPOA and vital to assuring that at-risk children are getting what they need.
